Dear Sir or Madam!
A warm welcome to my web site.
The Bar association defines attorneyship as a honorable profession which originates from the Antique and has preserved its good reputation to the present day. According to the same source, lawyers are legal experts, performing their free-lance activities autonomously and independently with due responsibility to their clients.
Although this description with all its romantic lyricism is still largely true, it should be noted that the present situation on the market of attorney services differs quite significantly from the antique times. The market is getting more and more segmented and the conditions are harsh. Traditional law offices, once the backbone of attorneyship, are making way to common law type of law firms in what seems to be an unstoppable process of supplantation.
My career as a lawyer (Attorney at Law) took the opposite direction. I established a traditional law office only after years of service in different law firms. Decision to do so was based on a firm belief that the traditional law office remains the best and most appropriate framework in which the aforementioned qualities, which ought to befit each and every lawyer (such as autonomy and independence, professional freedom etc.) and other fundamental values of the attorney profession, such as confidentiality, conscientiousness, responsibility towards clients and, of course, professionalism, can be implemented.
I would hereby like to invite you to take a closer look at the presentation of my career path and through it, as well as additional information on my work experience and expert legal publications, create an opinion on my professional competencies and qualifications for the performance of high quality attorney services. ABOUT ME
I began my professional career as a legal affairs consultant and procurator in one of Ljubljana's smaller sized publishing houses, but soon succumbed to the challenge of working in the judiciary.
From 2004 to 2006 I worked as a judicial trainee at the High Court of Ljubljana and was immediately upon passing the bar exam employed by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia as a senior judicial adviser. Over the course of five years I spent at the Civil Law Department of the highest judicial authority in Slovenia I was involved in preparing numerous Supreme court decisions and some judicial opinions. Needless to say, working hand in hand with some of the most renowned judicial experts truly enriched my legal expertise and experience.
At the beginning of 2013 I decided to leave the judiciary and move to attorneyship. I immediately took over as the Lead of the Intellectual property and Labor law departments at one of the largest international law firms practicing in Slovenia and had an important influence on the performance of its commercial-oriented litigation department as well. After three and a half years of serving both domestic and foreign clients I joined efforts with my former colleague in a boutique law firm. But the call of what I regard as the essence of attorneyship prevented me from staying there. On 1 January 2018 I opened a traditional law office in the very heart of Ljubljana, at Mala ulica 5.
In addition to the work at the law office, from 2016 onwards I serve as the President of the Republic of Slovenia Copyright Board. the Copyright Board is a professional, independent and impartial authority dealing with settling of disputes concerning collective management of copyright and related rights. The Copyright Board decides on appropriate tariffs for the use of authors’ works, as well as on other issues relating to conclusion and lawfulness of agreements concluded between copyright collecting societies and representative organizations of users of authors’ works, whenever the relevant actors cannot come to an agreement.
